Adult Learning Innovation Institute

 

In the fall of 2013 CAEA launched The Adult Learning Innovation Institute (ALII). This new institute is designed for adult learning professionals from any setting who want to develop and refine competencies and capacities to help adults learn in diverse, changing contexts with the latest innovative practices. ALII sessions will be designed and facilitated by leading educators in adult learning drawing on the latest research and practice.

 

All Institute Sessions Include

  • Innovative module design for enhanced learning and engagement
  • Participation in an on-going community of practice with other adult learning professionals
  • Opportunity to learn from and with leaders in adult learning and education
  • Approaches grounded in research-based principles

  • Focus on competence development and application to individual practice setting.
  • Participation in a robust community of other learning professionals for on-going resource sharing.

 

Who Should Attend

  • Higher education faculty, academic advisors and other student service providers who seek to be more innovative and effective with their adult learners.
  • Workplace learning professionals (human resource, training and development, and others) who want to improve their practice with the latest research and practice in adult learning and may be able to apply Institute credits toward professional certifications.
  • Graduate students and others who are building their skills and knowledge for working with adult learners.
    • HR Professionals: 11 HRCI recertification credits are pending approval.
    • ASTD MembersCPLPs can earn recertification credits by participating in continuing education activities that meet the ASTD Certification Institute Recertification Guidelines. Please review the CPLP Recertification Guidelines on the CPLP website, www.cplp.astd.org, for more information.
    • DePaul University, School for New Learning Students: You may be able to include this module as part of an independent learning project. Consult your faculty mentor for approval.

This short session will introduce participants to the key concepts of learning agility and how learning professionals can begin to incorporate them into their teaching and facilitation strategies. April 23 & 24 (9AM-4PM): Institute Module: Agile Learning & Development Strategies for a Changing World

This two-day Institute module gives participants an in-depth opportunity to understand, explore and apply core concepts of learning agility and develop new strategies to use in their practice settings to improve learners’ competence, capacity and confidence for learning agility.
