Greetings, all! I just participated in a ADLnet webinar today where I learned about a white paper that they have published about virtual learning authoring tools that I thought you might find interesting.

Beth, I am not familiar with Eluminate. How did you like it? I have been using Wimba for my grad class and am frustrated by several aspects of it, but keep coming back to it as it is better than the free alternatives. It clearly is not as good as LiveMeeting (but we don't have a license for LiveMeeting). My issues with Wimba include: [1] it does not degrade gracefully with there is low bandwidth audio connectivity - Skype does a much better job of this. [2] It lets you do Powerpoint shows in its window, but does not support Powerpoint animation - and I use a lot of animation in my Powerpoint as clarification aids.

As time goes on, I find I am relying more on different time tools for learning - and am evolving this quarter in how I use blogs in class.

Hi All. I've done little in this area since the mid nineties. However back then, I was the facilitator with a Motorola University group exploring virtual training; I taught a number of classes to start up, run and shut down a virtual pager assembly line. Then they could walk through a door to the real thing and validate their virtual experience! It was very cool.
I was also trained on a distance learning system but never ran a class (and can't remember the name of the system!)

I took my first online course in February to prepare for the PMP exam. It was a very positive experience.

I am also very interested in this. I have used webinar software (Elluminate, Wimba), chat, and some limited wikis to support online learning. Also media server utilities such as Ooyala (you can embed flash videos on your screen) and Flikr (an online location for photo-sharing), Audacity (a tool to make embedded voice recordings), custom-built LMSes, and several different standard LMSes (eCollege, Blackboard and WebCT). Would love to learn about more tools!

Hi Danny,
Thanks for starting this group. I am very interested in this area, especially learning more about tools that facilitate creative collaboration within work groups and collaborative learning. Beyond basic networking sites, such as this and googlegroups, I have little knowledge and look forward to learning more.
