On January 26, 2012 a diverse group of adult learning, mentoring and advising professionals gathered at DePaul University's School for New Learning to reflect on the dimensions and dynamics of mentoring, advising and informal learning and to surface our burning questions. The two maps below, created by graphic facilitator, Brandy Agerbeck, during the conversation reflect our initial thoughts. These thoughts will seed our future programming and collaborative inquiry on the topic.
We welcome your thoughts and responses!

Comment by Pamela Meyer on January 17, 2012 at 12:59pm Our DePaul ASK (Alumni Sharing Knowledge) Network just posted some wonderful mentoring stories of how alumni are mentoring and learning together and with active students. Here is the link: http://ask.depaul.edu/ASKMentorStories/index.asp Just scanning the wide variety of stories I can already see wonderful, diverse interpretations of the role of the mentor and mentee! I am interested in hearing more from people who are playing around with these boundaries and challenging some traditional assumptions.
I believe that having the hope and expectation of learning from (as well as to imparting learning to) everyone we encounter helps create that process and result. This combines the conscious aspect of formal learning with the spontaneity and acessibility of informal learning. Can't wait to hear what others think and have exprienced!
