Presenter: Dennis Glenn, MFA. President & CEO, Discourse, IIc; Director of Social Media for CCASTD (Chicagoland Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development); regular presenter at ASTD national conferences; former asst. dean for distributed education at Northwestern University.
In this interactive session, Dennis Glenn will introduce web-based tools that can enhance 'flow' in a virtual learning environment, whether workplace, school, or home setting. What is 'flow'? Borrowing from Csikszentmihalyi's (1990) concept of flow, optimal learning experiences occur when people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter. With adult learners in virtual environments, we need to use tools that insure that the learner is engaged in the process and feels a sens of well-being. We need to make sure that they receive constructive feedback that fosters their motivation and enjoyment of the learning process. How can we get flow? Dennis Glenn will lead participants through 8 steps of a flow-activity that will maximize virtual learning with interactive tools. Participants will leave with a set of on-line tools (free and practical) for their use and distribution to others.
